The main sports are soccer, rugby and cricket for the boys, and hockey, netball and rounders for the girls. All children participate in athletics and cross-country running, and a wide variety of other activities, such as tennis, softball, volleyball, badminton and uni-hoc are also included in the curriculum. In addition, those who wish can join an After-School Club and develop further interests including golf, table tennis and aikido. Children in the Pre-Prep have swimming tuition at a nearby sports centre. The School also has its own heated outdoor pool which many classes use for lessons, and the boarders use for recreational swimming, during the summer months. A number of Cathedral School pupils have represented England or Great Britain in various sports. Recently Jon Cox, 10, qualified at the National Closed Amateur Judo Association competition and represented his country in a competition in Holland, and Holly Turbill (pictured) played Rounders for England. |

The superb grounds of the School, set against the magnificent backdrop of the Cathedral, provide an inspirational setting for a multitude of sporting activities; all children participate in organised games and PE. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in team sport and we have a busy programme of competitive matches against other schools, usually played on Wednesdays but occasionally at weekends.
