Lichfield Cathedral School

For the third successive year, John Cox, in Year 9 at the Cathedral School, took the gold medal in the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) individual judo congress.

With 20 schools from all over the UK taking part in this annual event at the High Wycombe Judo Centre, John scored maximum points in each of his fights in the Under 55kg group to take the gold medal.

To add to the family’s trophy collection, John’s brother, Harry, in Year 6, took the bronze medal in the Under 46kg group.

The brothers, from Shenstone, train with the Meiji Judokwai club at Burntwood Leisure Centre and have several competitions coming up, both in the UK and abroad.
