Being German and therefore having to use a second language on a daily basis I believe that learning a foreign language not only broadens the horizon but also opens up a multitude of avenues in future live. I hope that my personal knowledge of the German language and Germany in particular will help the pupils to learn and understand the language and culture. I studied with the Open University for my degree and PGCE, completing the latter last year. Before qualifying as a teacher I spent some time looking after my children. I also worked in the catering industry, both in Germany and England, and for a German publishing company in London. My family and I moved to the girls’ school in Abbots Bromley in 1999 where my husband is the Director of Music and I also work on a part-time basis. I have enjoyed my first two weeks at Lichfield very much. This was helped particularly by the very warm and friendly welcome of both pupils and staff and I look forward to many more enjoyable weeks in the future. Susie Walker |

I am delighted to have been given the
opportunity to teach German at the school.
