Three boys from Year 8 at Lichfield Cathedral School, Guy Burns-Mace, Robert Cadman and Joby Fitzgerald, who make up the band 3 Pin Socket, are appearing on BBC1’s The Slammer this Friday, 20th June.

The Slammer, which won the 2007 Children’s BAFTA for Best Entertainment Programme, is set in a fictional prison and the acts have to perform to an audience of children in order to be released.  The boys will be up against three other acts, all professional performers with many years’ experience, to be judged by the audience.

3 Pin Socket also performed in Lichfield Guildhall last Saturday, 14th June, as part of Lichfield Youth Focus Day to celebrate the positive aspects and achievements of the youth of Lichfield.

Peter Allwood, Headmaster of Lichfield Cathedral School, said “This is the best young band I have heard in all the schools with which I’ve been associated.  They write the lyrics and music themselves and have come up with fantastic ideas.  The whole school loves to hear them perform and we are all very proud of them.  We just hope that they will be released from The Slammer in time for the last couple of weeks of term!”
