Lichfield Cathedral School is delighted to host a

Painting Masterclass by Ray Sheldon BA

Wednesday 6 October 2010
6.30pm - 8.30pm, The Great Hall, The Palace

Ray Sheldon is an artist based in Stone whose acrylic paintings capture scenes from the local community and beyond.

Lichfield Cathedral School has collaborated with Staffordshire Life magazine to commision twelve paintings of well-known Staffordshire landmarks by Ray to form a calendar for 2011.

We are thrilled that the 2011 calendar will be launched at this event. The masterclass will include:

  • an interactive session, when Ray will describe how he develops a painting from initial sketches to a completed work
  • insight into how Ray uses photography to inform his painting
  • a Q&A session exploring the wide range of Ray's experiences as a painter, an art historian and a product designer
  • an exhibition of recent works.

The masterclass forms part of the St. Chad's Youth Lecture Series. Previous lectures have featured Julian Lloyd Webber delivering a string masterclass, Lesley Smith, the curator of Tutbury Castle, as Anne Boleyn and a spectacular seminar on the science of comets by Anu Ojha, Director of Space Communications at the National Space Centre.
