Several budding mathematicians in Years 7 and 8 at the Cathedral School have been awarded top certificates in the national annual Junior Mathematical Challenge.

Out of the hundreds of thousands of entries, Luke Stewart, in 8W, was awarded a Gold certificate in this acclaimed challenge, which puts him in the top 6% nationally, three Year 7 pupils, Nathanial Paxton, Andrew Armstrong and Edward Simpson, were awarded Silver, whilst  Bronze certificates were awarded to Robert Hartshorn, Madeleine Galbraith, James Baker and Thomas Rockett.

Maths teacher, Hilary Ghazireh, said ‘Well done to all pupils who attempted the challenge for the first time, and particular congratulations to those who have been awarded certificates.  They, and we, are very proud of their achievements.’
