LCS will be celebrating National Children’s Book Week from the 4th to the 8th of October 2010. Children's Book Week is a celebration of reading for pleasure. Schools, libraries and bookshops all over the UK hold events and activities aimed at encouraging children to view reading as a source of pleasure, explore libraries and bookshops and even start writing themselves. Focusing on book-related activities can help children to see reading as pleasurable and fun, stimulating them to discover new books, extend their reading choices, discuss and share books, explore libraries and bookshops, and do their own creative writing. Mrs Price, the School Librarian, has organised a Book Fair featuring books for pupils aged from 7 years old to 16+, which will be held in the Old Library in the Palace from 4.25pm to 5.30pm throughout Book Week. A range of fiction and non-fiction books, each one chosen specifically for LCS pupils, will be available at a discounted rate. Please come along and support Children's Book Week. At the Junior School in Longdon, Tuesday 5th October will be Roald Dahl Day. Every child is invited to come to School dressed as a character from a Roald Dahl book to raise money for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity. Also, scrummdidlyumptious cakes will be on sale for 50p each! |
