The children and staff at Lichfield Cathedral Junior School, in Longdon Green, enjoyed a visit from The Hohodza Band from Zimbabwe last Friday (September 14). The band, who relocated to the UK from Zimbabwe four years ago, entertained the children, aged from 4 – 7 with a very energetic 30 minute music and dance routine. This was followed by a series of lively and exciting workshops during which the children were taught some traditional dances.
Margaret
Pearson, Head of Lichfield Cathedral Junior School, said “The Hohodza Band were
with us for a whole day of entertainment and workshops. At the end of each workshop session, the band
members encouraged the children to ask questions about Africa
and its culture. The children wanted to
know all about their homes, the food, their animals, the weather and a
multitude of other topics. It was a most
enjoyable and worthwhile day and something the children will remember for a
long time.” |
