Pupils, staff and parents from Lichfield Cathedral School gathered in the Cathedral on Thursday, October 4, to celebrate Harvest with a Thanksgiving Service. Canon Precentor Wealands Bell conducted the service, and many pupils contributed to the success of the occasion which was attended by a large congregation. The Heads of Middle School and Year 9 led the prayers; the children of Years 1 – 3 gave a confident rendition of a Harvest Song; the Choristers sung a challenging piece by Halley, with an angelic solo from Robin Marshall; and the Girls' Choir contributed a charming performance of Rutter’s popular ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’. Representatives of all year groups presented special harvest gifts, contributed by the pupils, which were then taken to many local organisations after the service, including Beacon Park Retirement Village, Dr Millies Hospital for Elderly Ladies, Focus Futures, St Johns, St Giles Hospice and the residents of Vicars Close. |
