We are delighted with the recent GCSE results achieved by LCS students. A fantastic 88% of students achieved at least 5 A* to C grades including English and Mathematics. Headmaster, Peter Allwood, said: "As a non-selective school, we are extremely proud of the students' academic achievements and thrilled that their enthusiasm, commitment and hard work have been rewarded by these excellent grades." The students achieved a 100% pass rate and almost 30% of grades were A* or A. "Students at every level of ability have worked hard to achieve at or above their own personal targets and, as a result, they are now able to move on with confidence to the next step, be that in formal education in our new Sixth Form or a further education college or in employment with training," said Susan Hannam, Deputy Head. On average, the success rate at grades A* to C was 20% higher than would be expected based purely on baseline cognitive testing, which clearly demonstrates the value added by the high quality teaching, supportive environment and small class sizes. "It is a set of strong results in the traditional, more demanding academic subjects, showing that Lichfield Cathedral School is successfully preparing its students for the challenge of A Level and beyond," added Mrs Hannam. Mr Allwood continued: "These excellent results mark the culmination of a fantastic year for Lichfield Cathedral School. The outstanding inspection report we received in May was a testament to the hard work of staff and pupils in creating and maintaining an educational environment which nurtures, nourishes and stimulates youngs minds and talents. I am delighted with these excellent GCSE results and my warmest congratulations go to the students, their families and their teachers." |
