The Cathedral School remained open at Lichfield on Thursday 8th February during the worst of the snow, though the Longdon site had to be closed for the day. About two-thirds of the children made it into school and enjoyed a number of special activities, including an assembly on "snow" tunes and a snowman- building competition on Stowe fields. The winning entry created by five children from Class 6R was brilliantly entitled, "Mr & Mrs White and Baby White - on a normal day".

Both school sites successfully opened for normal business on Friday 9th February. Fortunately, the forecast icy conditions overnight didn't materialise. However, unexpected snow during the afternoon brought traffic to a standstill and the coaches took over three hours to bring the Year 3 & 4 children back from the Old Rep in Birmingham. All families made the journey home safely.

During severe weather conditions, parents may discover whether the school at Longdon and Lichfield is open or closed by accessing the user area and looking at "newsflashes".
