On the first day of this term, on a beautiful September morning, Lichfield Cathedral School held a Dedication Service at the new premises for their Pre-Prep Department at Longdon Green. The service, conducted by the Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Revd Adrian Dorber, was attended by the Pre-Prep pupils from Longdon Green along with senior pupils from the Cathedral Close, staff, parents and governors.

The Headmaster, Peter Allwood, said, 'It was a perfect service for this occasion. Senior pupils supported the youngest in opening the new Pre-Prep Department at Longdon Green. We were very grateful to the Dean, our Chairman of Governors, for conducting the service and it was good that so many children, staff, parents and governors were able to participate in the celebrations.  The setting at Longdon Green is proving to be ideal for our younger children with purpose-built classrooms and lots of space and equipment for play. Prospective parents and their children may see the benefits for themselves at a special Open Morning on Friday, 6th October'.

With the younger children being based in the wonderful six acre site at Longdon Green, with beautifully maintained, purpose-built classrooms, the current facilities in the Cathedral Close are ideal for adaptation into academic faculties and departments, with the dedicated resources required for specialist learning across all subjects.

Mr. Allwood, added, "it is our firm commitment that the Cathedral School will provide children from Nursery through to GCSE, and eventually to A-Level, with the highest standard of education and the best preparation for life. We made an excellent start last year with an exceptional new Year 7 group who will be taking their GCSE's with us in the summer of 2010, and we look forward to growing year by year."
