Joining the Girls' Choir Print E-mail

Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact the school to book a place at the next choral scholarship auditions.

Places are currently available for audition in February 2010 to start from September 2010.

Internal and external candidates currently in Years 5, 6 or 7 are eligible to audition for a place in September 2010. Places will be awarded entirely at the School's discretion.

The  Auditon

The next auditions for the Girls' Choir will take place on Saturday 6th February and will be a friendly and affirmative occasion. Please note, however, that competition for places in past years has been strong, and in some years not all places have been offered.

At the audition, girls will be asked to:

  • sing a prepared short piece of their own choice (please bring a copy of the music - we will provide a pianist);
  • sing a new piece in a choral group (to be taught on the day)
    sing some vocal exercises; and
  • participate in aural exercises (scales, arpeggios, singing back notes, picking out a note from a chord, etc).

Those external candidates that are short-listed for the choir will be required to sit an academic assessment for the School to ensure that they could benefit from the education which the School offers. The academic assessment will also take place on Saturday 6th February.
