This choir is building on the Cathedral School's existing reputation for musical excellence. The girls rehearse before School on Monday and Thursday mornings and during term perform weekly in Lichfield Cathedral for the School service on Monday mornings. The choir sings for Choral Evensong in the Cathedral two or three times per term, and takes part in many other rewarding concerts, activities and events, including the hugely successful outreach programme, MusicShare, hosted by School and Cathedral. As the choir matures the musical programme is expanding substantially. Scholarships at a value of 20% of school fees (10% for the probationary year) are awarded to members of the Girls' Choir. In cases of need, the scholarship could be combined with a bursary up to a total of 100% fees in exceptional circumstances. Scholarships would normally last for as long as a girl sings in the choir, which could be for the complete duration of a girl's time at the school. In addition, all girls winning scholarships receive free singing tuition from the school's specialist vocal coach on a fortnightly basis. (Parents can opt to make reduced payments for these lessons to take place weekly.) |
