BE A CHORISTER FOR A DAY : Saturday 26th January 2013 CHORAL AUDITIONS : Saturday 9th February 2013 For more information, contact Lesley Bannister on 01543 306168 or via This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it In September 2006 Lichfield Cathedral School launched an exciting new Girls' Choir for talented singers, uilding on the Cathedral School's existing reputation for musical excellence. In September 2011, the Cathedral started the process of welcoming the girls into the Choral Foundation and the girls became Girl Choristers-Designate. This process culminated in the autumn of 2012 when the choir was installed as Lichfield Cathedral Girl Choristers. The girls rehearse before School on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings and during term perform weekly in Lichfield Cathedral for the School service on Monday mornings and Choral Evensong on Monday evenings. The girl choristers also sing the weekend services twice per term, when the boy choristers are on exeat, and take part in many other rewarding concerts, activities and events, including the hugely successful outreach programme, MusicShare, hosted by the School and the Cathedral. Scholarships at a value of 20% of school fees (10% for the probationary year) are awarded to girl choristers. In cases of need, the scholarship could be combined with a bursary. Scholarships would normally last for as long as a girl remains a chorister, which would be until the end of Year 10. In Year 11, former girl choristers are encouraged to join the LCS Youth Choir, a scholarship-based choir for talented and trained singers, including former boy and girl choristers. Being a chorister is a substantial commitment, but the rewards are significant.
