Catherine Lamb: Musical Director of the Girls' Choir(Assistant Director of Music and Assistant Organist, Lichfield Cathedral)
Cathy’s recent organ recital appearances have included the College Chapels of Emmanuel, Magdalen, King’s, Girton and St. John’s (Cambridge), the Cathedrals of Gloucester, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Westminster, Derby and Winchester, the Minsters of Southwell and Wimborne, Christchurch Priory, Tewkesbury Abbey, St. Mary’s Church, Redcliffe (Bristol) and the Albert Hall (Nottingham). In addition to playing the organ, Cathy enjoys singing with (and sometimes accompanying) the Sarum Voices, a Salisbury-based choir; she is the accompanist on three of their CDs. Her first solo CD, recorded on the organ by B.C. Shepherd & Sons at St. Alphage, Burnt Oak (London) was released in 2003. His work at Lichfield includes working with the Cathedral Choir and Cathedral School Girls’ Choir, accompanying the Cathedral’s Special Choir (choral society), and involvement with other local ensembles, such as Ex Cathedra, the Birmingham Bach Choir and the Lichfield Festival Chorus. In 2008 he was awarded a Silver Medal by the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He is a busy solo recitalist – recent concerts have included Gloucester, Bristol, Southwark, Hereford and Portsmouth cathedrals, Cheltenham Town Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral NYC, St Nicholas’ Church, Amsterdam and the Bavokerk, Haarlem. Anna has twice sung the role of Belinda opposite the Girls Choir patron, Emma Kirkby, in performances of Dido & Aeneas, most recently at St John Smith’s Square, London. Anna toured with a production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen performing at festivals such as Chelsea (Cadogan Hall), Three Choirs and Salisbury International. In 2007, she played Second Lady in The Magic Flute at Warwick Arts Centre, the Brighton Festival and London’s Barbican Centre, and in 2008 Anna moved to the role of Papagena for performances atDublin’s Helix Theatre and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. A regular soloist, Anna’s oratorio work has included Beethoven Mass in C, Brahms Requiem, Carissimi Jephte, Bach St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, Faure Requiem, Handel Messiah, Haydn Missa Brevis in F and St John Mass,Mozart Requiem, Orff Carmina Burana, Pergolesi Stabat Mater and Vivaldi Gloria. |


Cathy was a sixth form Music Scholar at Uppingham School. She spent her gap-year (2001-2002) as Organ Scholar at Salisbury Cathedral followed by three years as Organ Scholar at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where she studied Music. Before coming to Lichfield, Cathy was Acting Sub-Organist of Wells Cathedral, Assistant Director of Music at Christchurch Priory, Director of the Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus and Assistant Musical Director of the Salisbury Community Choir.
Martyn began his musical training as a chorister at St. Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, subsequently taking up the organ with Anthony Pinel. He was awarded the Burston Organ Scholarship to St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge, where he read History, also serving in his final year as Assistant Organist at the church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs. Martyn moved to Gloucester Cathedral as Organ Scholar for two years, working with the cathedral choirs and other local ensembles, before his appointment as Assistant Organist at Winchester College. During his time at the College he gained his FRCO, winning the Durrant, Baker, Harding and Limpus prizes. In September 2007 he returned to Gloucester for a term as Acting Assistant Director of Music, accompanying the cathedral choir, directing the Cathedral Youth Choir, and appearing on BBC Radios 2, 3 and 4.
Anna Bolton read English and Theatre Studies at the University of Warwick before continuing her vocal studies with Jane Highfield, tutor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.
